  23. Grab the file from the first url and install all files BUT 'Custom.000.B01.txx' from the 'Orca's mod with memory patch' folder. Then grab the file from the second url and put it into the Archive/2.114.001 directory of your game installation (where all other .txx files are).
  24. The memory patch allows the game to use more RAM, which makes it crash less (especially if you're using a mod-heavy installation or stuff like 4x textures). Orca's mod adds some new sliders and options to the pose editor, and is required for a lot of custom poses.

  57. Hooks are pretty much what makes this game worth anything visually. Just look at some TK17 screenshots in the thread and compare them to your base installation - 90% of that difference is through hooks.
  58. Now, which hook you should get, and even if you can get any hook running at all, depends on your machine. While the game itself can easily run on a toaster, the new hook versions will not work on shitty computers.
  59. This section will only cover stuff that assumes your machine can at least run hook 3 or onwards (and thus your game can use bumpmaps). If your machine is too shitty for that, check out the 'TOASTER TOOLS' section.

  62. If your computer can run it, then get this version. Adds tons of graphic improvements, in particular bumpmaps, proper shadows and since recently even loading custom models into the game.
  63. To make this work, you need to pick 'DirectX' graphics in the game settings. I also recommend running the game .exe manually from the 'Binaries' folder instead of the launcher. If you have problems, check ModsGarden for support or try a previous hook version.
  64. You can change settings (such as model outline, wetness, bloom, ..) in the 'main.fx' file. Be warned that Hook 4 is still in development, so most presets found on ModsGarden will NOT work with the most recent version without modifying them first.

  123. Out of the box, game textures are quite ugly. While bumpmaps somewhat improve on this, there are also mods to change the textures themselves and increase resolution of some textures.
  124. The mod will only change skin-related textures and basically covers the following (and probably some more) default textures from the game:
  125. - Eyeballs and eye irises
  126. - Tears and mouth cum
  127. - Stockings
  128. - Most ingame effects (muscle, sweat)
  129. - Most lipsticks (as far as I am aware, there is only one 4x lipstick in the base mod)
  130. Furthermore, this mod does require the memory patch mentioned in the above sections (which you thus should have installed anyway).
  131. While the textures do improve the look of your game, be aware that it also slows down things considerably - changing skins or skin tones now takes forever, even on fast machines.
  132. Also, you can NOT use mods that use default (low) resolution skin textures out of the box, which covers pretty much all older mods and a lot of newer ones. (Don't worry, though - clothing mods, hair mods, and any other mods not on the list of textures affected by this mod still work as usual).
  133. However, you still can use them by increasing the resolution of those textures by four times (e.g. a 512x512 texture simply has to be resized to 2048x2048 to work with the mod).   134. Lastly, this mod 'breaks' the face textures from the face maker, in case you were using that. However, this feature often is considered quite shitty and useless anyway with bad results, so you probably won't miss it much, and generally FaceMate still scans the geometry of the face just as it did before. In case you really want to, you can also fix those textures manually by resizing them (the face texture is in one of the Save folders after using FaceMate, forgot which one).

  169. Your computer is a slow piece of shit? Don't worry - even you can make your game look less shitty.
  170. First off, before you read this section: try out Hook4, then Hook3.
  171. If neither of them work on your machine and give you decent performance, even if you have nothing else installed, then, and only then, you should proceed with this section of the guide. Otherwise, you can always set up Hook3/Hook4 to not use graphic-intense features.
  172. If you really cannot make it work, then first take a look at section 3.3. - most of the stuff in there should work for you anyway (apart from HD textures for rooms, maybe). You might even get SweetFX from section 3.1 to run. Play around a bit before you proceed with this section.

  174. The following guide is copypasta from the old pastebin. Basically, what you can try, even if Hook4 and Hook3 do not work for you, are the previous Hook versions, or even ENB. However, none of these support bumpmaps, which means you will miss out a lot.

  176. There are three basic hooks (1b, 2a, 2b), each of which with its own set of variants. Each hook (and each variant) add a different effect to your game. There are also three standalone hooks (Skyrim hook, Hook Full hook, Sweet sunset).
  177. Hookv1 is a more 'realistic' filter which has soft focus features and a whole lot of bloom. Hookv2 is cell shaded and in my opinion needs the HQ textures or else it looks like ass.

  185. B) Look at the pictures and decide what hook/variant you want to install (you can only install one hook at a time. E.g. you can't have hooks 1b and 2a together)
  186. C) Install the core files of the hook you chose (for hooks 1b, 2a and 2b)
  187. To do that you need to copy the core files of the hook into the binaries folder of your game.
  188. Example: If you chose hook 1b, go to /core files/hook1b and copy all those files (there are 6 of them) into the the /TheKlub17/binaries directory. If you chose hook 2a go to /core files/hook2a and copy those files (2 files and a folder containing three more) to /theklub17/binaries directory and so on.
  189. D) Now that you have installed the hook you need to install the variant of your choice. It goes without saying that you need to install a variant that corresponds to the hook you installed. For example one of the 2a variants if you installed hook 2a. Not an 1B variant for hook 2b and so on.
  190. You must copy the files of that variant (a main.fx file or the shader folder as well if that exists) into your binaries so that it will overwrite the basic main.fx of the hook.
  191. Some authors have written more than 1 main.fx in which case they are named main.wet.fx / main.dry.fx / main.cartoon.fx based on their effect and so that they can be distinguished. In this case you have to rename the fx file you chose into main.fx so that it will overwrite the basic main.fx file when you place it into your binaries.
  192. Example: You have installed the 1b hook and from the 1b variants you chose veryslow's dry fx file. You go to /variants/veryslow/ and rename main.dry.fx into main.fx then copy it to /TheKlub17/binaries and overwrite the basic main.fx of the hook that is already there.
  193. E) Skyrim's hook,sweet sunset hook and the hook full hook have no variants. If you choose one of them you just copy all of its files into your binaries folder.
  194. F) If you are using hook 2A or 2B, you might also want to check out shaders.jpg, which corresponds to 'hook_shaders.fx' files. You add a shader similarly to how you add a main.fx file. You choose which you like, then you copy it to the hook_data folder in your binaries.

  213. Normally, the game only allows one body and face mesh for each gender. This tool changes that and lets you use different meshes for different characters (i.e. a defined and chubby girl body mesh at once).
